Need Brackets Laser or Plasma Cut in St. Louis MO

I need a shop or well skilled person to cut some traction bar brackets out of 3/8'' plate to attach my 1'' heim joints. Have the drawings complete, basically just a big shock tab, just need to find a shop in the St. Louis area to perform.

I tried cutting them with my plasma, but 3/8'' is just a little to much for it and I needed more grinding than I am willing to do.

Any help is appriciated

thanks guys

Re: Need Brackets Laser or Plasma Cut in St. Louis MO

My biggest problem is I am using a 1'' heim joint, so the bracket will need to have a 1'' hole in it, most mounting tabs only go up to 3/4'' in hole size if that. These heims are huge.

I also tried a jigsaw on some 1/8'' plate I had and I was only able to cut about an 1'' before the teeth on the blade were gone, and it was a Bosch blade. I cant even imagine trying to cut 3/8'' thick plate with one.

Many ag related welding and fab shops can do that sort of work. It may cost a bit more as you have what they would consider to be a small job by their standards. Otherwise there may be a rod shop in the area that can do the job.

Locally there is/was a guy who was cutting out pieces for modified Jeeps and selling them. There is also a guy In the Vancouver Wa area who sells on ebay who I believe will do custom cutting. I bought an engine/trans adapter plate from him and the work was nice even though the plate was rather light weight.

You might also check to see it there is a trade school in the area with a machine shop class.

Check your local Jr. College.

Re: Need Brackets Laser or Plasma Cut in St. Louis MO

I will check on ebay and some ag shops around here. I was hoping someone would know of a 4x4 offroad shop that did this kind of stuff locally and at a decent rate.

Will continue to keep digging

thanks guys

In Springfield Illinois you can sign up at the Capitol Career Center for 75 bucks and then use the shop every Tuesday night for 6 weeks. Try a place like that

Why can't you use a cutting torch for that? If you have a steady hand you can get it very close and smooth the edge with a hand grinder.

I'm in St. Charles MO. I would call Allied Motors(It might be called Bessel Motors now). The owner, Ronnie Besselman has an awesome CNC machine in his shop on First Capitol. He can make darn near anything with that machine. And he's a nice guy.
