Are all ac compressors mounted on the passenger side of the engine?

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
Thanks all for your info. I am restoring a Blazer and the ac compressor was in
the back of bed with no brackets. I do not remember when I tore it down what side the alternator was on and cannot find my pics of this. When putting this back together the alternator bracket mounts on the passenger side. This may not have been the original engine. I will need to scrounge up some ac and alt brackets. Thanks again. |

Wow, I'm impressed. If that is your work, I applaud you, looks like the showroom example...
One question, how deep did you dent the firewall for the HEI?

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
Thanks for everyone's help. If these pictures post ok you can see what i am working with. I found some drivers side alternator brackets but will need to locate the passenger side ac brackets.

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
Larry, If your looking to go back to factory stock, non of what you have pictured will work.. (other than the alternator and fan).
If you have found the drivers side alternator brackets you would still need the two crankshaft pulleys.. a short water pump and matching pulleys, the power steering pump, hoses, brackets and pulley, And all of the AC brackets. I can help you with everything you need. |

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
I just bought the water pump and told the parts store what year etc I had and the new water pump matched the take off one. I think I should keep it stock. I plan on keeping the body/interior as stock as possible. I may need to take you up on the parts.

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
Looks like I will be mounting the ac compressor on the drivers side after all. I never realized that the heads were drilled different with 3 holes for the ac bracket and one one for the alternator bracket. I would have to change the
heads and I think that is not worth the cost or time. |

Re: 72 Blazer AC mounting - 350 small block
Thanks, I will proceed as planned. My compressor has the brackets that bolt to each end still on it. I have been gone lately and need to get back to work on this.
