I would like to see some pics of '70's Short Box Stepside trucks with a 6" drop without air bags ?

I would also like to find a site with a How To... with pics on chopping the top of a '70's truck.
I know there are books out there but... I would rather see it on a website where someone has done the job.

A lot of you guys have some great websites with tons of valuable info and Pics on them, but...I have not seen any with info about these two subjects.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right places .
If there are any can someone direct me to them. ???

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck on finding many 6" static dropped 73-87's. That's more drop than must anyone would run on the front of our model trucks.

Yeah, I was getting ready to say that there are some with 6/8 static drops. I think Gregs is one of them.

You'd have to be a very aware driver with that low a static drop.

As for chopping tops, if you pick up a copy of How To CHOP TOPS by Tex Smith you will find very usefull info, with pics & tips on cutting glass ,& wing vents. You will find an example of your style truck done , as well as many other trucks/cars. Addy on the back of the book is ...... Hey Crazy Longhorn have you got any pics of your truck while you were chopping it or pics of the finnished product I'd love to see it.

Yes I'm aware of The book by Tex , but I'd like to see a how to with pics of an actual truck being done.
Besides if I bought the book that would be less money to spend on the truck and this one is an econo rebuild.

I am taking pics of my truck every step of the way and will put them all up on a page when I'm done.

You'll scrape your a-arms/engine cradle/exaust way before you hit the oil pan. Thats how it is on my 78 at least with a 5" drop.

Bill, I do have a few shots more toward the finished end, & several on progress that havent been up loaded. All of my info came from Tex Smith's book, It being the 1st chop for me, it was a little work....but i was happy with the end results. Did you cut your own glass???
How long did it take you to do the chop???

Bill, my chop was done a little differently than the 73 up chevs would be done. I have what i call a 4"chop, but is actually a 3 3/4" cut at the rear, & the top is tilted foward to straighten the line at the drip rail. The front pillars are then layed back to meet the top. I had approx a 60hr wk into the tin work , plus the glass work itself.......the 69 has a lot of flat glass, so its no problem to deal with(just cut from safety sheet). the windsheild was a little more fun to cut, but i had about 10yrs in glasswork so i didnt walk in" totally blind". When you start playing with the curved glass (side windows), there are outfits that will make curved tempered glass........but its very pricey, & you would be better off planing the truck to fit the glass. I have also heard of guys using Lexan in side windows, & heating it to make the curve
