Bed problems
Hey this going to sound like a dumb question but here it goes.I went to put my bed on my frame today and it sits 2 or 3 inches lower in the the rear than it needs to.I put a jack under the bed and raised it to match the body line.Question is do fleetside beds have something that goes underneath the rear bed mounts? Thanks Blaine.

Re: Bed problems
I've seen rubber gasket like squares about 1/8 thick but nothing 1 -2 inches. Are your cab and rad support mounts new? I replaced all my mounts because the bed set higher but it was all around not just the rear. Sorry I dont have a better answer

Re: Bed problems
No my mounts are a few years old but that might be the problem.

Re: Bed problems
Maybe the wrong cab mounts. The 3/4 ton and 4x4 mounts I think are about an inch or so taller than the regular mounts.

Re: Bed problems
Are you changing to a different bed? I had a problem when switching from a wood bed to a steel floor. I think there is a difference in frame stands from the two.

Re: Bed problems
The difference in wood vs steel is the bed cross braces not the stands, but I thought about that one also.

Re: Bed problems
Still no difference. I did the same thing to my 70 and had no problem with the alignment. If someone put the taller 4wd Cab mounts in your truck, that would definitely give you the problem you are seeing.

Re: Bed problems
Do you think its possible that the frame is bent?

Re: Bed problems
It is possible, but I think you would notice a bent frame throwing it off that much. Do you have a picture of the truck with the bed on?
I just reread your first entry. Is the entire bed lower or just the rearhalf of the bed???

Re: Bed problems
Just the rear half. The truck seems to sit level and when I drove it,it drove straight.

Re: Bed problems
You can try and look at my build thread and see if the rear part of the frame of yours is any different that mine and look at the underside of my bed.
Two things are ringing in my mind now, is that one some one has cut the end of your frame short or your rear mount for the bed is missing/damaged (not frame but actually on the bed).
