Will this hurt the alternator?

My master cylinder leaked onto the case of my alternator and I sprayed brake cleaner on everything it leaked on and now I'm wondering if I might have wrecked the internal regulator? I have washed tehm before and it never hurt them but will the brake fluid and brake cleaner kill it?

Fire it up and let us know. I doubt it'll hurt it myself.

Brakekleen shouldnt hurt the alternator. Brakekleen is almost made of the same stuff as electrical parts cleaner. Why does Brakekleen smell like a drycleaner?

When I idle in gear the amp guage goes way down and as soon as I hit the gas it just goes to the middle not a whole lot of charging. It doesn't look like the regulator is kicking in like it should. I'll have to try another one to see if I get the same results. Thanks guys

as long as its in the middle you are charging. If it were to stay on the negative side I'd be more concerned if I were you. Might be worth having it tested though. Did you get your regulator wet?
