Exclamation Stepside filler ( I switched from a 77 bed to a 1980 bed)

Did a search but came up with not too much...

I got a newer stepside bed maybe a 1980? it has the drivers side tank just like the 77's I took off. The new bed has a square door but the old bed had the exposed cap. Where can I get the correct filler part that mounts to the bed? where can I get the hose. I tried reusing the 77's filler and hose but the angles just aint gonna work. I looked on lmc and capt's website but have not found anything.

Any ideas.

Also NAPA does not sell the hose for this.

You could rig up a cap and use a rubber tube that's rated for fuel.

I have tried a few different options but the angles won't work. It kinks and flattens.

Nobody re pops this right?

Now thinking about a section of exhaust pipe?? and just rubber elbows to connect? But would much rather have all rubber

I think I am going to have the same problem, as I removed my bed, I turned around and noticed my dad cutting the hoses off my tanks. oh well too late now. Anyway, I have seen this stuff at the autoparts place. It is somesort of coil you put in or outside of a straight rubber hose and it will hold the shape when you bend it and keep it from kinking. just a thought

Classic industries has them. Here is the link to the downloadable catalog.

http://www.classicindustries.com/pdf/T_SEC_I.pdf

It is a PDF file and requires adobe to view. The hoses are on page 8.

Here is a link to Classic parts (Chevy Duty) and what they have

Re: Stepside filler ( I switched from a 77 bed to a 1980 bed)

Just checked that out on Classic industries site.. Wow that much for a hose? I guess u gotta do what u gotta do.

Question on 84 and up step side beds did they use the same metal part as the 77-79 beds? (the part that screws into the bed?

Also was the main tank on the drivers or passanger side??

Thanks

I know in 82 they were on the driver side. I think when they went to the door cover it switched back to the driver side.

FYI No one repops the filler assembly or the hose. Got to a boat shop and get a section of their fuel hose..
