SC Junkyard
This is a junkyard I had passed I don't know how many times on my way to family for Christmas and any other fuction we had to go to. I decided this past week I was going to go check it out today. I called a friend of mine who likes trucks as I do and just thought he would like the ride since it's closer to him than me. Jesse AKA (67ChevyRedneck) I picked him up and we headed over to Chesnee SC up 221 and went to Vicks yard. It was a lot of old stuff, some was way past saving but it was a fun day walking around and talking about all the old stuff. Here is some trucks and a link for the rest of it.
67 Small back glass wrecker with a twist... the door plate say's it's a 68. If we read it right anyways. This was the sticker on the brush guard on the wrecker. Thanks Jesse for riding along and lets do it again soon. Here is the link for the rest of the story of the old iron out in the feilds. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...06&ppuser=3964

Re: SC Junkyard
Here is a couple of the older stuff in the yard.
Like I said some was way past restoring! Notice the old wooden spokes. It had a buick motor in it.

Re: SC Junkyard
Well I thought my M&D were headed down here today but I'm headed up there instead. I may go over to the yard in Hickory if I can get away from the folks for awhile and the wife doesn't mind! They live in Conover just below Hickory.

Re: SC Junkyard
Yes he seemed pretty laid back, didn't mind us walking around at all. We spent a good 3 hrs walking. The bier's were a little annoying but it was a good day.

Re: SC Junkyard
No problem Andy! It was lots of fun! Andy's pics are a TINY FRACTION of the cars/trucks this guy had. Sadly, the majority of it has been sitting for so long there wasn't much of anything usable left on them. LOTS and LOTS of 1957 Chevy cars, 2 door, 4 doors, wagons, different trim levels... very sad, none of them looked like they could be pulled out and saved...
That wrecker was pretty cool. The body was a little more beat up than the pics show. Assuming the body panels are correct, it has 68 fenders, 68 VIN, and a 67 small window cab. It has the correct rivets on the VIN tag. Must have been a left over cab. We tried to read the glovebox sticker VIN but it was so sun-bleached it wasn't readable.

Re: SC Junkyard
There was some damage but it was all there. Cracks in the fiberglass. There was another top out in the yard in the very back it was missing part of the hatch door inside plastic. It was broke. Both tops were workable I think if you can fiber glass.

Re: SC Junkyard
WOW...proof that were actually some small window '68's!!!!! Thanks for all the details to verify it. I would love to have the '68 hood on the 50th...it would be the perfect compliment to my unrestored truck.
Did you find any SS trucks or big block 4x4's??? JK

Re: SC Junkyard
Ya know.... I don't recall a any of the 67-72 trucks we saw as being 4wd, except the blazers.
The majority of the trucks there were longbed 69-72 Chevy. Very little love for the 67-68 for some reason.
