New daily driver...

My buddy did some body damage to my '02 Tahoe that will require some downtime. Now my '72 is my daily driver. Last 3 days on CA freeways around 22 miles each way at 70MPH she is doing great. It's a damn good truck and still has a healthy original enine. I may never go back.

Sweet looking truck ! keep it away from your buddy !
You must drive on the freeways really early and really late to be able to drive 70 mph

Re: New daily driver...

As long as gas is this cheep! I've been driving all my 67-72's now. When it gets in the $4.00 a gallon range, 10mpg 72 K20 versus 40mpg in my VW diesel pickup I have to regress. Beautiful ride there.

I doubt it sees that, that's the last thing I would put that truck in.

Just funnin wit him jimbo. Why have a 4x if your not going to use it? Hunting-fishing-mudding-hill climbing-pullin the sleds/dirt bikes-or just getting home...............It would look real cool in its element? We have a name for 4x that never leave the pavement. LOL

I know what you are trying to say, but :

Straight, clean as hell, and VERY VALUABLE, are all I think of when I look at his truck, there are to many later model 4x4 turds to tear up, that one needs to stay on road, Some people take pride in NOT tearing up their trucks? I know what you meant though.

Maybe I would agree if I had one that was all original #s matching, low mile, incuding paint. Who really knows what a truck has been through before someone reworks it. If it was done once it could be done again........ All I was saying if it were mine it would get used. Remember I live in the NW. Regaurdless, he has a very nice truck and should be proud of it. I would be..................

It leaves the pavement, but by my choice not too often. Last November I took it on some backroads in San Luis Obispo and a quick ride over some dunes, but that was it. I've thrashed around, messed up and fixed enough trucks in my life to know it won't happen to this truck while I own it. Call it what you will.

Ditch the Tahoe....roll this 72 every day. The only vehicles I own are two 72's myself. Both get driven daily, the way it should be. Chairs make good garage furniture...our trucks do not.

Amen!

I'm in the process of restoring my 72 Cheyenne Super. She has pulled boats, hauled hay, and worked on a farm her whole life. Still has a strong original drive train, but I want to make her look sharp again. But I can promise she will never be a Garage or Trailer Queen! She'll be taking me to the lake and camping and to work (just like she does now)... only with a better appearance!

As she sat when my dad gave me the keys earlier this month.

Sweet ride for sure.

Yeah driving it everyday you may just get hooked back to driving it all the time.
