Gas tank options
The most common seems to be installing a blazer/suburban tank, but what other ones have people used that fit well and are easily found? I know about the custom tanks also, but I'm thinking about regular car or truck tanks.
Anybody ever use some kind of poly tank? What was it from? Any problems with the conversion? Can a tank that had an in-tank fuel pump be used without that pump for normal carb use? I want something underneath, but would use a saddle tank too if there is one that fits well. Any opinions or ideas are welcome.

The trend is definitely to use the Blazer tanks. They make a poly one, but was told not to use by someone who had one on his show truck. Did not give a good reason other than mounting. Right now (through April), Brothers.com has a metal Blazer tank for $200.
On my truck, I have a tank from a car (what, I don't know) as the previous owner "made" it fit between the rear frame, under the bed. Filler neck between bumber and tailgate (yes, its a hassle to fill up.) My truck is fuel injected so it need a sending unit with return line. Thus the "custom" tank. I have already bought this new Blazer tank from Brothers. |

There is a guy on here that used a 49 chevy tank. Im pretty sure that this is the way Im going to go. Here is a link.

I dug around and here's the thread on it. He had to trim the frame rails a little but it looks pretty good to me.
