fuel gauge resistor
anybody know where to get one? fix-a-gauge.com isn't working (at least for me).
Update (in case anyone runs into the same problem) searched all the vendors on this site.... and on the last page http://www.truckandcarshop.com/index.html Page 34 below http://www.scribd.com/full/5722345?a...jcbazlklxtunnw Last edited by Mondo; 03-18-2009 at 12:10 AM. |

Re: fuel gauge resistor
I have to be honest... electrical is not my forte.
The problem I'm having is the fuel gauge goes from full to about a quarter tank (when full). It works intermittingly. I had the sending unit replaced but that didnt solve the problem. They then found the resistor was not working properly and asked if I could find one since us owners know the best places for parts. From info gathered here, it's most likely one of 3 things concerning problems with the fuel gauge: the sending unit wiring connection/ground fuel gauge resistor Hope that helps, there's a picture of the part on page 34 of the 2nd link. More I just found out I had to buy $25 worth of merchandise to ship... this was on the phone and couldn't think of anything else (lucky, I know). Anyway, I just ordered 3 of them, at $10each.... if anyone needs one, PM me. Last edited by Mondo; 03-18-2009 at 02:46 PM. |

Re: fuel gauge resistor
Lets us know if it solves your problem. I know of two trucks with the same symptoms.

Re: fuel gauge resistor
Just an update;
Seems the resistor was the problem and the gauge has been working for almost 2 weeks now. Like I said before, they cost $10 and I had to buy 3 due to $25 minimum purchase requirements so if anyone needs this PM me. |

Re: fuel gauge resistor
After ordering from fix-a-gauge and having horrible service and a month of waiting I finally got a resistor in the mail with a radio shack sticker on it, 87ohm resistor and you are good to go.

Re: fuel gauge resistor
FYI- truck and carshop.com was the only place I was able to find this resistor. brothers, lmc, etc...none of them carry it.

Re: fuel gauge resistor
I know this is way past when you guys posted about the resistors but, I to have that problem... I contacted that shop to buy a resistor... they tell me that their supplier no longer offers those resistors... so they are in the process of finding another supplier... not what I wanted or needed to hear. If anyone has another source for the resistor that mounts to the back of the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster, please let me know... thanks.
