Power steering pump or box??

hey, trying to find out if this is the pump or the box... this sound makes my eyes bleed

yea, what he said. the pump is either starving for fluid or the pump is going bad.

good way to describe what's happening. I agree it does sound like the pump. I used a long rubber hose to check mine out on one of my vehicles. Placed one end on the pump and listened on the other. Had wife move the steering wheel while I checked to see where the noise was coming from.

the owner befor the last , was a very abusive parent i geuss, ran the thing with out power steering fluid and never did oil changes
