Proportioning valve rebuild kit

Is there a Proportioning valve rebuild kit or how can I check it to see if it is working. I have it off now. I have replaced everything on the brake system but this. 72 chevy c/10 front disk Chief mechanic for my 54Belair, 64Corvair, 72 C/10Fleetside and 2002Tahoe.

John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Is there anything to it? Do you just take it apart and clean it up or is there something to be careful about when taking it apart?

I ran rubbing alcohol and then brake fluid through it will that be good enough or does it have to be taken apart?

Don't use mineral spirits, it will ruin the rubber parts. We took 2 old ones apart to try to get one to work for our 71. Not much luck. Best to buy a new one, I know they are expensive, but when you need to use the brakes, that is not the time to find out you saved $80. It's bad when they don't go, but it's worse when they don't stop.

I went to NAPA and Autozone and they both said they don't sell them.

We got a new one from Classic parts of America. Guess they are more than I remembered.

Re: Proportioning valve rebuild kit

I took mine all apart and cleaned it with bore brushes, pipe cleaners, and Q-tips - put it back together - never had another problem with my brakes

Re: Proportioning valve rebuild kit

If you take it apart and it's clean inside, just clean it out with some brake cleaner. Take the old o'rings to a place that distributes o'rings in Columbia. Tell them what the service is for and get some new ones. Use a little brake fluid on the new o'rings, slip them on, put back together and you should be good to go. Make sure the warning light pin matches up with the groove in the valve. If not, your warning light will go on.
