wiring on starter
Help. I have a 1972 Chevy Blazer with a 350 engine and HEI. The problem is; My Blazer wouldn't start so a friend went out to look at it. While he was looking he noticed a burnt wire on the starter solenoid. He replaced the burnt wire and spliced it into the wrong wire. He pulled a bunch of wiring around so now I don't have a clue as to where to begin looking for the other end to the wire. I can't even remember if there's 3 wires coming off the solenoid or 2? The only one I know for sure is the one that runs right to the battery.

I believe there are 2 wires plus the 1 large one that goes to the battery, 1 goes to the S terminal on the starter, and the other end of the same wire goes to the key. This is the one you need. the other is not needed since you have HEI, it was to give the points style dist. 12 volts during starting. Both wires however run together, and go from the starter up to the wire bundle on the fire wall, I can't recall the colors right now, but give it a little time and i am sure one of the other guys here can help you. Here is a link to some diagrams that might help.

Beside the big one to the battery there are two, 1 goes to the S side small wire, and 2 goes on the the same terminal as the cable from battery. If you look on the end the electrical fitting will be as big as the battery cables fitting. Also the #2 wire will be thicker than the #1 wire that is hooked to the S side. That #3 wire is necessary, I believe it comes from the alternater and charges the battery.
