GM Cast Iron Bellhousing Depth

Anyone know how deep a cast iron bellhousing from GM is?\
Aluminum ones are 6 1/4 inches deep.

Chime in if you know!

It seems that anyone that uses a T5 trans behind a cast iron bellhousing versus using an aluminum one does not have to use a transmission spacer..............or am I incorrect?? I have seen some that use no spacer and some that use a spacer.

I was considering using a bellhousing spacer to move the bellhousing back from the engine which will give me more space to make up for the overall length of the bearing retainer and the input shaft and allow the trans to bolt to the bellhousing.

I believe that Brad on here (the guy with Six Appeal!) did not have to cut his T5 input shaft.

Thoughts??
