I'm the new guy on this street I guess
G,day fellas,
Some of you may recognize me as the old 67-72 era guy, but I changed a bit recently. I sold my 72 Super Cheyenne 2 days ago. Now all I have left is my 72 step side beater. Today, I bought a real turd of a 63 truck... It's actually really solid apart from the rockers and a bit of floor board. The cab supports and such are real solid. No sweat on that stuff. My plan is to take my 72 stepside donor... And relieve it of the following for the 63:
Before anybody poo poos me parting the 72, there is a reason. I built that truck from a 1 ton cab and chassis truck. It has a cab light roof. The frame was a freebie that is bent nearly an inch. The problem is, it is still titled as a 1 ton and the cops have hassled me a bit since it's obviously not a 1 ton any longer. Plus, I went through a divorce, and the judge awarded the truck to me legally, but she has the title and it is registered to her and won't give it to me. So, I have to hire a lawyer to take her to court and get the title to my truck. By the time I mess with all that hassle, it's better to simply remove the whole list of part above and part out the remaining body pieces left over. Even if I did have the title, no one would want to buy a short bed truck that is registered as a 1 ton utility truck anyway.

Skip the drama
skip the hassle Part what you need and when "she" shows up with the title show her the bent frame and say it's all yours baby! There's actually some good metal on that truck, but who picked the color???

TX . . .... I'm not going to give you grief for being a quitter on the 67-72 era. The choice of color for your new venture however is fair game . . ....
Let the roasting begin!

Wait a second. You have a truck registered to someone else that's giving you grief?? I say it's time to commit a crime or two. That's a hooligans holiday if I ever saw one. I also really dig the wheels on the '63. I say, do what you want and make two trucks into one good one.

Hey man ...welcome to the dark side. I like your new truck. But I think its a '62. At least it has a '62 grille and badges. 60-62's have torsion bars on front and 63's and up have coils.

Take what you need for the '63, sell the rest, then drag the hulk to her front yard, lol.
Do you know why divorce is so expensive? Cuz it's worth it.

Hope you get the truck. I've seen some of your work and the advice you've given throughout this board and I know you'll enjoy building this truck. First stop should be for some paint.. LOL..

Re: I'm the new guy on this street I guess
Well, here is what I know.
It definitely has normal coil spring front end. Agreed, the grille is 62 spec. Emblems, I have no idea. Do not worry, that color is gone quicker than a choir boy's virginity at a priest's conference.

Re: I'm the new guy on this street I guess
He showed me the title, but I didn really glance at it too close yet.
I think since it has front coil springs and a manual clutch linkage that it must be a 63 for sure. It seems like 62 would have had torsion bar front end and a hydraulic clutch linkage.

Re: I'm the new guy on this street I guess
Welcome to the darkside as we call it. You'll find that this era of trucks aren't that much different than the '67-'72's.....in case you didn't already know.
Yep, I say strip that '72 and build yourself a nice '63 truck....or '62......whatever the title says.

Re: I'm the new guy on this street I guess
Your truck will make a very nice builder and with the parts from your '67-'72, you will have a solid rig. Please keep us posted on your progress with lots of photos.

I don't frequent the other parts of the forum that much, but have seen and heard your name around different areas. Welcome to our world, can't wait to see your progress.

I'm not even close to expensive either, just selective about the jobs I take on. I like to do work that matters like your favorite old pair of valve covers or that set of rally wheels you scored real cheap, or grandpa's old toy truck or similar. Not so much on greasy old suspension pieces or rusty bumpers or the like.
