motor/trans swap
I was basically given a 1990 gmc 1500 with 350/700r4. I would like to swap it into my 69 after some upgrades to the motor. I am new at this and am wondering if this is a waste of time or a good starting point for a weekend driver. Also, how much modifying am i looking at or would this bolt up with a few changes. Looking to do a stroker/carb setup and rebuilding the trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Great start, newer 350's have alot of good parts, I would keep the Fuel injection, heads should be Vortecs...one piece rear main seal, serpentine belt, Overdrive trans. All good stuff!!!!

The heads are not vortec, but the motor either is a roller motor, or has the option to be a roller if you buy the spider gear for it. But other wise I agree with Skirkpat. All you will need to do to install it with a carb is move your transmission cross member back and short your drive shaft.

From what i understand, the stock heads have poor flow and the throttle body setup is not the greatest? That is the reason for the carb and stroker setup(if i am getting new heads might as well build the rest of the motor) Thanks again for the help.
