Re: everyone loves a free truck!
Cheap is good, but free is better. Looks like you have a bit of work ahead, but the fresh parts will make a big difference.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
Congrats!Free is good!Remember,it's all about the hobby and using your hands and imagination.(atleast in my opinion)I just thru a bumper like yours (in good shape) in the dump.Sorry! You'll have no trouble finding parts for that truck. They practically fall from the sky here in Canada.I have to ask.....do all lawnmowers in the states have steerable front wheels? 72 chevy s/b 2wd (lowered of course)

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
Yikes I see rust everywhere, even on your grey Silverado in the background!
So far it all looks fixable. How is the cab floor? John Deere, MTD/CubCadet and Honda are the only homowner walk behinds with caster wheels, and they work good too, but are overpriced imo. |

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
Not bad for free. It needs a good amount of work, but not too bad.
I need some clearanced fenders like yours for a demo truck I'm going to build. The rules say I cant cut them.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
I hate you. Unless it came w/ the Olds 350 Diesel. Then you paid too much. Unless you want to swap in a 455 olds, then I still hate you.
Why can't I get a free truck? Seriously, very cool. Matt |

Because you don't live in the rust belt.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
sorry, I thought you had a better climate. Generally trucks from the midwest and north east look like this. Or so I thought.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
WOW!!! Remind me never to drive in Missouri in the winter. And I thought I had rust. You need a few new parts, no doubt. Looks like a good excuse for a cab-off start.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
I am glad you got this thing for free. I would have had to harass you for buying it. Really though...looks (and sounds) like a fun project with all the free parts.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
wow its been a while since i posted this. There has been some but not a lot of progress im very busy with house repairs before winter but, I did get the new doors, fenders, and hood put on so it looks really bad being a whole bunch of different colors.
I did work on getting it to run and still kind of doing a little bit at a time on it. i got a new edlebrock carb that i just put on last night. the old 2 barrel was missing just about everything on it and i already had the edlebrock sitting in the garage. i had to put a new starter on it since the other one was locked up and new battery and wires and i turns over and fired once but i havent tried to start it with the new carb on yet. The guy that gave me the truck took the wagon wheels back and gave me 5 brand new chevy rally wheels which i still have to paint and get tires for. I just got the bug again and started messing with it a couple days ago since most of my time recently has been spent installing new doors and insulating my attic and garage.

Re: everyone loves a free truck!
Here you go again. I see the new ride has an emergency brick. I would say this one has more promise. Be sure to pass the free parts out to needy folks, karma.
