How will a 265/75-16 tire fit on a 10" wide wheel?

I'm thinking a 265/75-16 may be to narrow for a 10" wide rim? What do y'all think? Any examples?

Thanks

hummm, may be a bit too narrow. you may give a tire shop a call (perferrably one with some older guys working at it who know what they are doing) and ask.

but imho, I wouldn't go over an 8" wide rim for that size.

OOHH, I think they will, It may be a little tight, kinda depends on what the tire manf. reccommends. You don't want to have them blow a bead on you. Check the tire manf. website , it should tell you the reccommended rim width. My 275/55-17 say a 17x9.5 to 17x10.5.FWIW

thinking about it again....

265 = 10.4", so in reality you would have .2" overhang, which isn't too bad.

BUT like MT said, check with the manufacturer to be sure.

I wouldn't do that at all. The sidewalls were not meant to be spread that far apart and you will experience very uneven tire wear. That tire is supposed to be on a 6-8 inch rim with 8 being the max.

Yeah, I wasn't real comfortable with it that's why I asked.

Question, I know the 3/4 tons were available with an optional 16.5x9.75 rim. So, what size tires did they come with originally?

dont know the exact size but it was a bias tire and they can b spread wider with no effect like radials suffer

10.00-16.5,no longer available.

A 10" rim is too wide for a 265/75.And 8" rim is stretching it.Figure a 285/75 is ideal on an 8" rim.265s don`t have a 10" tread. You don`t want your wheel width to exceed your tread width.Figure a 12" tire is where the 10" rim begins to be recommended, with an 8" still acceptable. My 285/75-16 Uniroyal Laredo AWTs have an 8 3/4" tread width.I ran 265/75s as my 1st replacements on stock`92 rims that came with 245/75s mounted from factory.265/75s are the max. recommended size for stock steel 8-lug wheels.285/75s will crown on that rim a bit. But,that`s what I`ve done with good results. This is the first Uniroyals since the original set and they seem to lay flat on the road.Like I said,an 8" would be a better width.
You have to stay in the same rim diameter and profile series, such as 75,when comparing tire dimensions. All these newfangled sizes blow any standardization right out of the water.

So my guess is the 16.5x9.75 rim guys are running 33x12.50-16.5?

I think those will barely fit on my stock 3/4 ton 2wd.

I've never seen a 16.5" wheel that wide.

I know I have 265/75/16 on my 4x4 and they're on 8" rims. I wouldn't go any wider or you'll ruin the tread pretty quick.
