Your 67-72 4x4 with tire size,wheel and offset

Some of you may know I have a 72 w 6" lift. I have always been one of those borderline guys like if my pickup is lifted ant the rear sags too much I'll make a half or 3/4" block to put in the rear to make it mostly level etc.. So, that bein said, I'm having a hard time figuring out what size tire/wheel I want.
I've seen many pics and pickups in person that I like, but the pics that I have seen here don't tell which wheel they have (10 or 12) and most of the trucks around here are 4" lift w 33s, and mine is 6" and I don't know if 33s will look too small. I do know that every 6" lift is not the same, but this will give me a very good idea what I want. So if you don't mind posting a pic and telling me what wheel and offset you have put it up....and I'm sure that the other members will love it too.

All of the following pics are of my 69 K20 with 35x12.50x16" tires on 8" wide rims with I believe 4.5" of backspacing.

Here it is with the initial 4" lift which was 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride springs and a 4" shackle flip out back



Here it is with about 6" of lift



And here it is with 6" Tuff Country HD springs which I believe actually net about 7" of lift and some body lift - total lift is right about 10" I believe



Personally I think a 6" lift on this era of truck looks great with a 35" tire

I need to increase my tire size for my truck to look better as it sits right now IMO

Yukon Jack, is that your drink of choice?
That is one mean lookin K20. I would not go to much larger in the tire dept, personally, I like it as is in the last pic.

I am running 305, 75 R16 on 10" wheels with a large amount of offset. 6" lift. Right now I have a 4" block in the back with stock springs and its down about 1.5" from the front. I love my wide tire setup.

I like it too, Green, are you the guy with the blower? Seems to me that there was a truck similar to that which had a blower on a BBC.

Blue 72 this is the blower equipped 427 big block truck.
I have a build thread with video under 4x4 projects. The blower combination has been a learning experience. The blower requires alot of mods to preform right. I still am working on tuning it in.

come on, there is more than 2 4x4s out there that are 67-72 models... the 88-98 guys have more than this.

In my humble opinion, I've always ran 32x11.50x15's on a stock or barely over stock lift. 33x12.50x15 on a 4"lift and 35x12.50x15 on a 6" lift. 10in wide wheels on anything bigger than the 32's. I like to see space between the top of the tire and the fender, it also leaves room to articulate. My current truck however has 305/70/16's which is a closer match to a 35x12.50x15. With the 4" lift it currently has it doesnt look too bad. The tires are a little skinny but thats how I bought it. Working at a Firestone franchise nothing cracks me up more than these guy's who pack the entire fender with tire and then complain about the tire rubbing over bumps and on turns!

Just to show how different lifts kits can be, here is a 4" lift on my 70 K5 - I temporarily installed my 35" tires that are shown on my 69 K20 above - I think the front springs on the K5 are from Skyjacker or Superlift, not sure which though. With these front springs, the tires had alot less clearance than when I had a 4" lift on my 69 K20.

Yukon, u are right, there is a lot of difference. We all know that all lifts are different, but when u can see the difference side by side, what a drastic change.
I am on truck overload, man these rigs look good. Haven'T seen a lifted burb yet, I like it, I like it a lot.
I do believe I like the long bed GMC as well.
A different buddy came over just now and he has 33x12.50x15 Remington's mounted on 15x12 weld super single II's and we will see what those look like and I will post a pic.

no, the red one is a factory 4x4 lwb, the one with the 72 front clip is the one that was converted

Yeah,I kinda did that to make guys realize after something`s gone it strts looking better.In my and most people`s minds we got tired of seeing them.But,this truck was in original form when I got it needing everthing underneath.I saw no sense in tossing $300 shiney wheels on a truck with tweaked mouldings and such.I went with 4WPW`s buy 3 get 4th free and stayed cheap on the wheels,too.I like vintage wheels on vintage vehicles and all mine are 16.5s(Turbines,Slots,Wide OEM type).These are right for the era and I knew they`d look good with the white paint.The truck`s a survivor and I wanted it to look like it was always lifted from back in the day.So,it was as intentional as it was for cheap.Cheap can look good,eh?



Now I need to do this one.It`s stock(lower actually) with 12.50/33s on 8.25s:



I can`t decide.I have another truck,a shortbed that will be more off road oriented.I have 37" SSRs for that one and was thinking to run the 6" EZ-Rides I have(just front so far) and get a bit more lift from zero-rates.That truck is a project in waiting,though.I need to do this white truck now,tires are bad.I really wanted it to be milder with a 4" lift so I could run 35s between the two trucks but also could go smaller/more stock looking with 285/75s.I just can`t get all the funds together so nothing is happening.I have 35s mounted I could toss on once it`s lifted.I`m tempted to just get 6" rear springs and go with 6".The shortbed could use an 8" lift anyway.It`s about the money,though.I`d have to do more mods to the white truck and have to buy everything towards the 8" on the shortbed.I have a 4" lift on a`91 Suburban,but that will give more than 4" on a`72.I guess I just need to wait and get a 69-72 4" lift/stay with the plan.I`m just getting too dang anxious!!I just wish I could get back in the money.All this used to be so easy for me.Poverty SUCKS!!!
