Found a better hanger bearing - fairly cheap !!

Got this from NAPA - HB206FF - about $45.

They also carry the cheap one - PHB206FF - about $20.
(Or you can get a billet aluminum one with a poly insert from Inland Empire for about $120 )

This is what I found with the HB206FF vs the cheap ones -

A. The metal body appears to be heavier gauge than the cheap ones.
B. The metal body is welded to the top part at the sides along with the standard spot welds so it can't come apart there like the cheaper ones.
C. The bearing is much better qualility and a better brand name than the cheap ones.
D. Perhaps the most important difference - The rubber is much stiffer and should be less likely to get all sloppy in there like the cheap rubber does after a few miles.
E. Appears to come with better quality harder bolts, not the grade 2 bolts that come with the cheap ones.

The flat washers that come with the good bearing should be replaced as they are too small for the slotted mount on the frame and the bolts are METRIC so don't try to reuse the stock 3/8 bolts from the old beairng.

Hope this helps someone, they can be a pain to change. I think the better one is worth twice the price of the cheap ones.

Re: Found a better hanger bearing - fairly cheap !!

Well that is an interesting observation about the rubber.. because the NAPA parts guy told me that the rubber and the housing was the same between the 2, and the only difference was the bearing itself, the cheaper bearing made in China..

If the rubbber is actually stiffer, tI wish I woul dhave known that before I installed the cheap one yesterday.

digging up an old thread, but this is the one on my truck and it broke off clean right at the T mounting point.
