TH200-4R Transmission question

I know someone must have replaced their TH-350 with a TH200-4R...There is an electrical plug on the driver side of the 200-4R. It has 3 wires. [U][SIZE="4"]Where do they go and what do they do. U]I'm about to make the swap to get some gas mileage, and to get my rpms down on the highway. With a 3.73 gear, I must be turning 3000 rpms at 65mph. Please give me a private message if you know what to do with these wires.

Re: TH200-4R Transmission question

They are to control the lock up on the torque converter.
I highly recomend reading up on this swap before you jump in head first. If you don't do it right, you'll get to do it again.
And just becouse it feels right, doesn't mean anything. You have to set up the TV cable just right.
A good place to look and learn about them is www.bowtieoverdrives.com ... It isn't just plug and play, there is work to do, and things to figure out.

Re: TH200-4R Transmission question

Yes - I suspected that was what they were for... I have already been to the Bowtie site and read pretty much everything they had to say about the swap and how important the TV cable settings are.

My next question then, is about torque convert. lockup... Is the stock TConv a lockup unit ? The original transmission and TConv came from a 87 Impala.

Definitely interested in this swap as well... I know that there was a recent thread about the 200R4 swap, and it was in the 67-72 message board. I'll try to locate it.

Re: TH200-4R Transmission question

Here is a good tip sheet on installing a 200-4R.

Here's a thread on how to get the lockup to work. It talks about late TH350s, but the same wiring scheme will work for them, a 200-4R and a 700R4 of you're not using a computer control.

There are quite a few home grown information pages on the 'net about the 200. You might do some Googling and see what's out there. Here's some general information and there's a paragraph in there about swaps and some lockup information.

Good luck and let us know how it turned out.

Re: TH200-4R Transmission question

OK then... If I install this trans. with the original TConv. and original TV Cable, and get the WOT position correct, and buy the converter lockup kit... then do I need to buy the "EZ TV System" from Bowtie Overdrives? My QJet carb numbers don't show on their listing of carbs, but it closely resembles the QJet 1910 model. They also want you to open the transmission and replace the spring in the TV valve if you use their EZ TV System. Hope I don't have to do that... Comments? Does it sound like I have a fairly good understanding of this process... or am I missing something?
