My new ride!!!!
Hello fellow forum brothers!!!! Well I will finally be getting my 1973 SWB this weekend. I am so ready to bring it home and start working on it.
I will post pics when I get it home, I must warn you all that the image on the computer that you will see may just be disturbing to the human eyes!! lol The truck is pretty rough shape as far as rust and neglect. But it has tons of potential. I talked to the owner about 6 years ago about buying it. The day I talked to him and looked at the truck we were discussing the deal. The next day we were to make the transaction, I met him at his shop and some idiot kids decided they nothing better to do than throw large rocks through the perfect winshield it had in it. So the guy got mad and didn't want to sale it. Contacted the same guy three weeks ago and he said he would sale it to me!!!!! Woot, Woot that means I have a truck to build. Now I'm just trying to figure out what motor to run as it will be a daily driver to enjoy. So I am open to all of your thoughts. Thanks for having such an awesome site to get valuable information from. |

Re: My new ride!!!!
Here is one thing I need some help on.
1. I want to go static drop and run coil overs at all four corners. My problem is that I'm not sure of what spring rates to run to get a nice ride with improved handling. 2. I have purchased a 350 TBI with 80,000miles on it for a whopping $200.00. I plan to freshen it up and perform some performance upgrades while I'm at it. 3. I want to go 20's but will be running some custom 15" wheels for a while until I find the wheels I really like. So fellow forum brothers I welcome all input from you guys. Maybe you can all stop me from making costly mistakes that you may have made and learned from. The day I start turning bolts I will start my build thread on this truck. Man I love having this site available. Beats spending many hours in google. |

1. Static drop and coilover drop are going to be two different things. Currently im not aware of a coilover system for these trucks, i could be wrong. |

Re: My new ride!!!!
Point well taken!
My question would be about front and rear spring rates for our trucks. Does anyone know where I might be able to find this information? I have been googling my eyes out and still no further along than when I started. lol Thanks Cherub! After re reading my post I agree with what you said. |

Re: My new ride!!!!
I was really hoping to get more hits on this thread. I really need the knowledge from those who may have done these mods or from those who know someone thats done these mods.
I will be starting to work on my truck as soon as I get down to pick it up. So if anyone on here can help out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks to those who replied! |

You should drop by the suspension forum and doo some reading there. Lots of information and several industry experts hang out there.
