have big block question

Hi all.....I posted this in the engine and drivetrain section but I never get anyone there to answer my questions....But I have had good luck in the past with my trusty old 67-72 friends....I have a 1996 burb with a seized Vortec 454. I do have a engine block from a 94 burb. Are the blocks the same? I was told that they are and I don't even need to move the heads because there were no "vortec" heads on the 454....is this true? If so all I need to do is move over the mounts and intake parts for the harness. Any more insite on this? Or is cut and dry? I need to know. And if longhorn man sees this thread....how's it going? And no I have yet to put the rocket 350 in the 72.

Re: have big block question

I would look at the block numbers and see if they match or what years they were in. I'd start there. My thoughts are that they should be the same motor. Chevy is good about that.

Re: have big block question

from what I remember, this will NOT work. They are not the same block. I had this idea a few years back & asked the same question, but I do not remember the answer, but I do remember that it would not work. I will try to search for it in a little bit.
