First carpet install

All right, I am getting ready to install my new carpet in my 72 Suburban, and I was wondering if spray adhesive or two sided tape is necessary?

I purchased the silver two sided sound deadener/heat shield for under the carpet. The carpet is a new molded carpet unit that has the pad attached.

I want to do this right, and since this is my first carpet install I am looking for some tips so the carpet doesn't wrinkle or slide once installed.

Do I spray adhesive the sound deadener down completely or just spray the adhesive around the edges or at certain areas? Do I spray the carpet to the sound deadener?

Just looking for some advice from you guys.

How thick is the sound deadener?

Originally the factory stuff was just laid down. Then the carpet laid on top of it.

Once you get the chrome trim down in the door jambs and the seat belts and seat installed it wont move around.

I personally wouldn't glue anything down. I might want to take it back up.

The sound deadener is about 1/8 inch thick.

I guess I will see how everything lays out when I get it in. As you said, I would rather not use any kind of adhesive just for future removal, if necessary.

My main concern was up by the firewall. Just don't want the carpet to move around too much.

I've never done a burb but I don't glue the pickups anywhere. No problems yet.
