Removing sm465 shifter

Okay, so I tried some searches with no luck. My question is how do I remove the shifter from my sm465?

Re: Removing sm465 shifter

Put it in nuetral, and at the base of the shifter, push down on the metal cap and turn to the left (I'm pretty sure, but it might be to the right). It's spring loaded and after you turn it, it should pop up, and you can take your shifter off.

Re: Removing sm465 shifter

I have found using water pump pliers make it alot easier. Also agree with everything said above.
