67-72 parts interchangeable?

Was wondering, I may be picking up a rust free cab that's had all the of the internal sheet metal done. It's a 67 cab with Bezel which looks to have the choke and it also has the small rear window. The rest of the truck will be a 69. One main reason I'm getting the cab is because it is done inside and has a title which my 69 doesn't. So, I was wondering if (most) body parts are interchangeable between the years? I like the 69 front clip and bumper, but I like the 67 fenders w/o the side markers. Would that work? Bolt on? Or modification? The bezel I would like to use the 69 being that it has the extra gauges, but can I just yank out the choke assembly and be done with it? One more thing, 67 cab with VIN and 69 Body....so what does it make it? Identity crisis? haha

Re: 67-72 parts interchangeable?

The 67' Cab is fine BUT Either you have to go with the entire 69-72 Front End which includes fenders, hood, rad support and grill (Inner Fenders and Bumper should be the same) or go with the 67-68 Front End (that Front End includes fenders, hood, rad support and grill. Bottom line: The 67-68 and the 69-72 front end parts Do Not Interchange.

Re: 67-72 parts interchangeable?

i'm no expert by any means, but i think the bezel changing will work fine unless you run into problems with wiring. As far as the fenders go the 67 fenders call for a different hood and radiator support. The raditaor supports might change but the 69 hood won't fit right with the fenders and neither will the 69 grille. I'd just shave the side marker lights on the 69 fenders and the headache.

Re: 67-72 parts interchangeable?

I think what your asking, will the cab fit on my 69 frame. YES it will, now will the 67 cab work with my 69 frontend. You can either go ALL 67-68 fronted parts, or go ALL 69-72 frontend parts, Mixing the two will not work.
Now for the guage bezel, the bezels will interchange between the years but there is a difference in the wiring for the one that has all the guages. Basically what i would do, is strip the 67 cab of the 67 wiring, and swap the 69 wirng into the 67. Granted that it's all in good shape. Not a hard thing to do especially if you have both of them sitting side by side.

Re: 67-72 parts interchangeable?

as for the title question, you can probably get away with calling it a 67 and running the cab/vin/title.
However, if the identity is ever questioned from a legal standpoint, an impound may be the result.
Bottom line... call your DMV for your only real answer. Better now when you haven't spent any more money than later with a lawyer running up a $100 an hr tab.
