No Turn Signals or Parking lights on the 62'
Hey guys! I did a search but could find anything referring to a 62' and turn signal issues so i thought that i would ask. I never had turn signals front or back. The front turn signal hood harness was tore up so bought the replacement harness. Plugged it in and put new 1157a bulbs in the respective places and whalla --- nothing! I checked the voltage where the harness plugs in and im getting 12V but nothing at the other end of the harness when plugged in. Are the hood lights also running lights or just turn signals? Nothing there either. I thought that maybe someone else has run into this before so any help to point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Rear has no turn signals either.
Thanks in advance!

Did you look for a ground that was disconected?

Re: No Turn Signals or Parking lights on the 62'
I could be wrong, but I think you'd want a single element 1156. But it sounds more like a switch issue to me. The front lites are just turn signals, running lite only in the 'midway' parking lite position.
Definitely check your grounding at all locations as suggested by '62. My taillites wouldn't ground for anything; took 'em apart about 5x's.

Re: No Turn Signals or Parking lights on the 62'
Thanks protrash and 62shortstep. I did a little more digging around and found that the blinker arm cable that runs to the switch was disconnected and a key component was missing. (flasher) was missing. I bypassed it with a wire and the lights all work just dont flash. Rear turn signal on the right side was getting a bad ground on the light bulb so i sqeezed it some pliers and now it works. These trucks are pretty easy to work on compared to a new one. Thanks again guys! I have to figure out what part number the flasher module is now....

Re: No Turn Signals or Parking lights on the 62'
I just realized something - for a 47 year old truck the wiring is like new. Nothing brittle or hard like they usually are...

If you still have problems with your tails, clean the inside out with some sand paper. I had to do that, and also my spring contacts were sticking down so they didnt make contact with the bulb.
You can probably get a flasher at Checker or Autozone. Im pretty sure Ive seen 'em there.

Got a flasher today at Autozone for $2.99. The part number is FL552/536 Thermal flasher just in case anyone needs it.

sooner or later you will probably be needing a new turn signal cam plate...almost 50 tears old and probably getting worn -out....
