Front wheel bearing seal question

Installing new front wheel bearings and installed the seal. Once installed the seal is not flush with the hub and sticks up about 1/16". I checked the part # (National 9015S) and it is the correct seal for my truck which is a 69 C10. I have installed seals on several vehicles and always tapped them in until they were flush. Any ideas what is wrong here or are they supposed to stick up a bit?

Mine went in flush as I remember. See any difference between the one you removed? Did both L/R side protrude the same?

I took everything apart over 2 weeks ago and tossed the old seals and bearings. I only put in one seal and checked the other hub and can see that the seal will stick up on both. The bearing races are seated in all the way and that is what the seal sits on. These are the right seals according to Rock Auto catalog where I purchased. I will double check with local parts house and also check that bearings/races I installed are correct. Unless someone else chimes in I am going to assume that the seal needs to be flush.

the seal should not sit on the race. the bearing should be between the race and seal (in probly just reading somthing wrong but can you show us a pick of how the bearing is in there

To rephrase the seal is bottoming out on the race which is preventing the seal from being flush. The assembly order is race, bearing and seal. I am going to take the other seal I have not installed to NAPA tomorrow and see if it is the same size as what they have in stock.

I checked, double checked and checked again all parts and consulted with a local shop. It turns out that the seals do not go in flush with the hub. I replaced the one seal I put in since I hammered the piss out of it. Front brakes are done and glad to ba able to move on the rear axle bearings and brakes.
