murphys law is a @%&*$!!!!
well we put the heads on last weekend. everthing went smooth. no antifreeze in the oil or vise versa. the truck was running good, i thought i was in the clear. took the truck out to the track to tune it and #@$%@$#^. made a run but something wasn't right. got off the track pull over open hood and antifreeze is pouring out to the drivers side of the block.
had to get it towed home ($130 $#@^@^). i'm not going to look at it until tommorow, but one of two things happened. i either blew out a freeze plug or grenaded the block. i hope its the freeze plug. if not i'm screwed. i don't know why it would come out the truck wasn't even running hot. has anyone ever had a plug blow out. how hard is it to change?

Damn, Ryan. Sad to hear. It could be several things. I've never heard of a freeze plug blowing out, but I guess it's possible. They will of course push out when the block freezes. May be a head gasket, or a dreaded cracked head. And also, it very well could be a crack in the block.
Don't panic just yet. Wait until tomorrow to check it out before going off the deep end. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya.

if i cracked one of those new heads i'm gonna go drive the truck of a cliff with me in it. but i'm almost positive that its not a cracked head or blown head gasket. from what i could see up top it looks like its coming from much lower in the block than that. but i didn't have a jack at the track and its to low to crawl under so i really don't know

What about the drain plug? I'm guessing you took it out to drain the block when changing heads, right? It may have loosened up or may have not been tightened enough. Guessing here.

Use a punch and hammer to beat it out. What you are trying to do is turn it sideways so you can get hold of it with some pliers to pull it out.
To install the new one, use a socket that fits inside the plug, and drive it in flush. I would be very suspect of the rest of them now. Usually, when one goes, the others are real close to it. This is one reason I always use distilled water only. Never use normal drinking water in the cooling system. To many minerals to eat away at stuff and cause rust.

well its out and the new one is in. that was a pita to do witht e motor in the truck. i'm worried too about the other ones going out mike. but out of the 6 on the block only 2 are accesable without pulling the motor or trans. so i'll have to keep my finger crossed that they will hold now i gotta go put the header back one, my favorite thing to do

There's actually 8 freeze plugs, 2 on each side, 2 in front, and 2 on the back.
Good luck and be sure to keep and eye out for when, not if, some of the others start leaking. If one went, the others are not far behind, you can count on it.
