what to do next... need advice

so i've replaced my rear end, trailing arms, shocks, springs.... I know that I need body work done but think that i'd rather take care of engine first.... question for you guys that have done resto's..... Should I continue with all mechanical... (motor swap) replacing gas lines, re-wiring before moving to body? I'm trying to figure out what to tackle next.... I don't mind if it's off the road. It's been in my driveway since I bought it taking it out for the occasional test drive. I also dropped in a new alternator/carb/air filter/wires/plugs/distrib cap.... I was looking at a rebuilt 350 from jegs.... Anyone have any advice here? I know all of the questions... lol my head is going in 20 different directions.

Thanks,
Chris

IMO body work and paint should be the last thing you do. Good luck and have fun!

I totally agree.

Do the engine stuff first. That way when you don't scratch the paint later.

do the engine bay (clean, replace panels, primer, paint) install power train, redo suspension, rewire then do the body work and paint last....

body and paint is always last so you dont scratch it and so you can at least have a running driving truck if you run out of money. You can always roll boat paint onto it.

The only thing you want to do after paint is interior and drive.
