Ok. I bought a 63 Suburban!
After my post: Welp, I sold my truck, saying how 4 of us just didnt fit in my 60, and me selling it, I said I was torn between a badazz little 50 chevy hotrod, and a 63 Burb.
Well, after 3 days of crazy thoughts running through my head, I drove the 100 miles and bought the 63. Its a, up to 1993, lieflong California burb. Its 90% solid. Even the lower tailgate area is perfect. The hatch has a few bubbles. It has some bubbles here and there, especially on the rockers, but not bad enough to warrent replacement. It also has a Goodwrench 350 crate motor, and a rebuilt TH350. All lights, signals, gauges, wipers etc work, which is a novelty for me. It made the 100 mile trip home just fine at 65mph, because of the bald tires, I stayed at 65. It was home for 2 hours and we already lowered it some, and yanked those wheels and tires off, and replaced them with painted steelies and ww's. Next is www's and better exhaust, and lower. Heres pics of it 10 minutes after it got home today. And 1 shot of it with steelies and ww's. But none of it lowered. My wife and kids love it, plenty of room, and I feel like I still have a truck. Later!

Good choice and nice Suburban......and a "Custom" one to boot. They make excellent family rigs for cruising and traveling. Ours has been to Minnesota 2X and to Yellowstone once.

Re: Ok. I bought a 63 Suburban!
Thanks all...
What makes a "custom" different? I did notice it has a cool steeringwheel. I usually take stock wheels off, but its cool, so it stays...

Re: Ok. I bought a 63 Suburban!
It's basically the same as the 'Custom' pickups except the side trim is just the single piece just below the windows. Then of course the Aluminum grill, chrome bumpers, and the trim around the windshield (but yours doesn't have that option). Sounds like you may have the deluxe steering wheel as well.

Nice truck grumpy......besides the spear of chrome down the side, I'm not sure what 'custom' meant.

Re: Ok. I bought a 63 Suburban!
Thanks all.
Ive put over 300+ miles on it the past 2 days. So far so good. May need a taller rear tire to cut some gear out. And Thanks Dino. I wish now I wouldnt have done the lettering on the truck, only to sell it 6 weeks later... Ive been thinking hard about what I want out of the burb...Another drag strip inspired deal, or maybe the speed shop logo I used on a 54 truck 5 years ago, before it was so common. I really hate white... Im having bad thoughts about wet sanding it with 400 to see whats under the white paint Thats how much I dislike white. Id rather ruin a white paintjob than have white. I guess Im weird that way. Some will think thats nuts, but I really, honestly would rather have beat-down weathered and worn look than solid white. We'll see.
