72 burb
Bought this a week or so ago.($1500)
this is my first project of this size and I might be biting off more then i can handle. Im learning quick. Pretty sweet ride.hopefully have everything done by next summer. Things to do... 6-8" lift wheels/tires paint all new weather stripping throughout all interior needs redone..so basically everything. fix heater fix both a/c units clean up motor(runs..but not great) new bumpers...off road style. rear bumper will be spare tire and gas can holder. roof rack wih a lite bar. winch in front bumper 72 suburban 1/2ton 4x4 air-conditioning/rear air(rear air??pretty rare?) little rust here and there. Driver door was rusted out. Got a door off a truck. I thought it would swap out with no issues. Thought wrong. Before After some patches of rust in a few areas... So i bougt a welder today and decided i could patch the rust myself.=D upon fixing the rust patch i found 2 more below it..omg finished patch..lol ive had these tires in the shop for about 2 years. so i decided to put them up for sale..but im having second thoughts. I would have to swap out the axles though..1/2 ton=6 lug and these are 8 lug off my current truck.(pic below) but swapping axles wouldnt be a bad thing. craigslist pic..couple people have called. because this looks pretty damn good. i put it on my lift to get a look at what it could look like. Planning on painting it..already started pulling glass and once it is patched/sanded/bondo/...ill paint it in here. im thinking satin black. i bought a sample for the cloth for the interior. ill post pic once i get it in the mail. now onto the question... are parts available for rear air? i didnt realize it was an option back then. any info will help! thanks |

Re: 72 burb
Cool burb and Welcome! For the door, all you have to do is swap window frames. There were a lot of different options for a/c. Search the parts board for stuff you might need. The wheels would look pretty sweet after a fairly simple axle swap. Good luck.

Great buy, and I can't wait to see how this thing looks riding up on those meaty tires. Good luck with the install!

I have a 3/4 ton axle for sale off a 90 Suburban here in Vacaville and I have a 84 front 4x4 axle that you could convert to a 3/4 axle

Re: 72 burb
I think i might have those 38's sold. If it falls through ill pm you. Thanks!
I also came across an interior for a 96 sub. Bought the seats out of it. Pretty good deal. So i set them in place to see if it would work out ok. Looks good. Leather/power. Couple small tears in the front buckets. Easy fixes. Second row and rear are basically perfect. Need a good cleaning. |

Re: 72 burb
Hey Lig Boozer, that thing is pretty nuckin`fice! (I dig your name)
You can handle it.Man,I hope you kept the wheels`n`tires. You`ll need to buy more anyway and 8-luggers rock. You`ll need to scrounge for the rear a/c parts.what parts do you know it needs? Are you just anticipating? It may not need anything.I think it would be 'cool" if you could get that working. (I know...keep the day job)

Ive recently stripped the paint of of it and pulled everything molding bumper off. cleaned it real good and hopefully get a primer on it this weekend. next will be bodywork. My two older kids have done most of the striping of the body. looks good. I'll post some pics soon.
