A week of waiting.. 700r4 is back in and better than before.

About 3 weeks ago, I had a little issue known as NO 2nd GEAR syndrome.

Went look around online and local for a rebuilt 700r4 or someone to rebuild my 700r4 in a reasonable price. It sits behind a little potent 402 3/4ton with 4.11's.

that tows and hauls like a truck should.I have seen prices from 600-to over 1500..I found a guy on craigslist that I also have met and known for about 7 years from our local swapmeet.

$775 and this is what I now have, 30 spline
*Complete Borg Warner rebuild kit installed.
*B&M shift kit, HD version.
*7 clutch Raybestos High Energy 3/4 clutch kit.
*"New Design" Drive shell.
*Rebuilt 10 vane pump.
*Borg Warner HD pump rings.
*.500 boost valve.
*.296 reverse boost valve.
*Corvette servo.
*Borg Warner 2-4 band.
*Bushing kit.
*New forward sprag, 29 element.
*New low/reverse sprag.
*New lock-up solenoid.
*Updated "solid design" case saver.
*"Solid" no leak Teflon sealing rings on input shaft.
*New filter.

Oh yeah rebuilt torque convertor with welded fins inside and seal bearing.. should last and hold up to my lead foot.

Finally got the TV cable adjusted to where it shifts right if you get on it a little. If you drive it normal, the 1st to second is a neck bender and chirps the large tires in the back. Crazy..

I love it and have all my power back to the ground. I never knew what the old tranny had or what it came out of.

Well I'm off to load up for this years swapmeet

Glad you are mobile again. It's good when things work out.

Yeah.. what I really like is the chirp from 1st to second.. no matter where I play with the TV cable.. it still chirps..
Oh well I guess something else will have to give..

Ok I should talk to the tranny guy.. My shifts are hard and 2nd to 1st doesn't seem to happen very well. Now if I adjust the TV cable, pushing it in closer the shifts work great if you are hammering it. But horrible if you are just trying to put around, it'll put your head through the back window when it shifts..

I think i bought a little to built tranny for my truck.. But the price was right..

Re: A week of waiting.. 700r4 is back in and better than before.

I haven't been on in awhile. I have a 72 Cheyenne Super K10 short bed. I removed the 4 speed and rockwell transfer case years ago and put in a New Process 205 with a 350 Turbo. What would it take to replace the 350 with a 700R4? Is it a bolt in project and changing the lengths of the shafts? If this has been posted before could someone direct me to it? Thanks!
