home sprayed epoxy primer
I was thinking of doing a black epoxy primer paint job on my truck has anyone sprayed at home in the garage and how did it turn out. I was looking to leave it in primer

epoxy has no uv screeners. The sun will deteriorate it over time. Best bet is to buy some preflated single stage. You're local jobber can do this or you can go to hotrodflatz.com and get any color you want.

PPG also has a pre flattened clear that works well, DCU-2060.

i used o reillys primer.. its nason urethene (spell check) and with that and activator it was $99.88 went to harbor freight and bought a $15 gun.. sprayed it.. i got dry spray on it but its good enough..

This is what I used. $64 / gallon at the local Fisher Auto Parts franchise. I think it turned out okay. I'm still putting it back together and the sign painter was just here yesterday.

You can definately get good results in your garage, but it depends more on you. Your prep work & gun control will have much more to do with your results than where you spray it.

I think your garage job will be fine. There are some Hispanic gentlemen here in Ft Worth that paint on the gravel in front of their shop. Their work surpasses what most guys can turn out in a high dollar booth. Keep the dust down and do good prep work.

Rustoleum sells satin black in I believe quart and gallon sizes that you can find at home depot. They also have flat and other satin colors. I've used it with spray gun. Works well.

I primed my old 89 chevy truck [5.3 4l60e] with some white PPG about a year to year and a half ago . It has been outside since my dad brouhgt it around the shop to wash it yesterday and it is holding up perfectly. Jim

Just make sure your not breathing the stuff in, I would rather paint outside and have to sand off a few flies, then cough up my lungs.
