Lokar style trans dipstick

I have the Lokar wannabe flexible stainless braided trans dipstick/tube off of Ebay for my TH400 and I have it mounted so that it is near my ceramic coated headers, but still has lots of air around it. The actual plastic dipstick and handle gets super hot with the engine running and becomes too flexible like rubber almost. Can't insert it into the flexible tube when the engine is hot. Basically, looks like I can only use this when the engine is cold. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this normal? Did I make a mistake by buying this faux Lokar? Thanks.

Re: Lokar style trans dipstick

I have a Milodon Tranny dipstick tube and it really is much nicer than the Lokar units = it is flexible with a Teflon lined sst over brade, has a SST dip stick, and double o rings at the top - bolts into the original hole at the top eng/tranny
I own several Lokar pieces but this Milodon is very nice - and they are less $ than the Lokar
