Where exactly are the engine numbers?
Hey guy's
Going to be under the truck repairing a brake line and was thinking that this would be a good time to clean my engine whilst its up on the stands. It is the dirtiest engine I have ever saw! My question is - Where is the engine number on a 350, and how do I know if the VIN & engine numbers match? Maybe a dumb question, but not if you dont know the answer. Cheers |

Re: Where exactly are the engine numbers?
The VIN number is stamped on the right side of the engine on a small pad that is in front. The head is adjacent to the pad but the numbers are readable as the head does not cover them.
There is also a casting number on the rear of the engine on the curved area of the casting where the transmission bolts up. Jim

Quote:
If the engine is dirty, squirt a little WD-40 on a rag and wipe off the pad where the numbers are stamped. The 'pad' is on the right hand side, in front of where the head bolts on to. If you have AC, it is under the compressor.
