Really fugly wheels on my '69

First off, if this is in the wrong forum, could somebody please move it.

This is the worst of the fugly wheels on my truck; 1/5.

A friend of mine said they could be cleaned up with "Blue Magic"; but not if they're "coated" wheels.

Sooooooooooo. What do all y'all recommend for cleaning these wheels/
And, how do I tell if they're "coated" wheels?

Thanks in advance folks.

Try A to Z tire and wheel cleaner, You just spray it on and the dirt comes off.

Re: Really fugly wheels on my '69

Thanks, Mike.

The mess you saw in the 1st pic is rust.
I had a drum brake go "metal to metal" (I'm nearly deaf, so I couldn't hear it) and the dust from the CI drum and wet weather gave me that "product" on the wheel.

Where can I find the "A to Z" stuff? Or is it just commonly available?

Thanks again, Larry

Larry, talk to member Mudder. He has some killer stuff for aluminum.

I just can't remember what it is at the moment. Just PM him.

If they are clear coated, then treat like paint. Use compound, polish, wax, etc.

Re: Really fugly wheels on my '69

There's a new member on here screen name Sangermike. He is the one to talk to about polishing wheels. I've talked to him on the phone. VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE about metal polishing. His website is metalwax.com go check it out. and if you contact him tell him Barry sent you his way.

Re: Really fugly wheels on my '69

Blast em up and have them powder coated and you won't have to worry about them for a long time.
