will this haul one of our trucks
Its raining outside right now, and I'm in my work clothes.. (business attire) so dont want to go out and measure ( OK, I'm lazy!)
but will be looking at a 16X 6.5 tandom trailer today, and wondering if it will work to haul my truck if necessary,,, 72 chevy,,, this one has the side welded on, so concerned it will not haul the truck.. so will @ 78" give enough clearance? they are asking $800 for it, around my price range... what do you think?

Re: will this haul one of our trucks
mine is a standard longbed, with standard rally wheels, I've got a couple other cars to haul to scrap as well, but know they would fit..
havent heard back from the owner, hopefully he hasnt already sold it.. not a bad price

Re: will this haul one of our trucks
well, the a normal standard cab, 8 foot bed gm truck is about 18 feet like a suburban. so if the wheels will fit between the rails and you hang the nose over (or perhaps the tail end would be better) the front rail, you should be ok. probably be able to open the doors and swing them over the rail or you could crawl through the window after putting the trans into park or gear and setting the parking brake.

You will have to crawl out the window -it's a tight squeeze.
Also be very careful cause you might scrape the truck fender on the trailer side rails----from experience. |

Re: will this haul one of our trucks
I have hauled my '65 swb, my son's '68 swb, and a '68 GMC lwb on my 18x6.5 trailer. It does not have the extra rail on it like your's. You should not have any problems.

As long as you don't have wide tires stickin out the wheelwells- you should be ok. Those fold- up ramps might have to come off though... a LB truck will overhang too much to fold the ramps up.

Re: will this haul one of our trucks
When I went to pick up my 67, it had a flat on the left rear. It was just enough for when I was loading it on the trailer to walk sideways and scratch the drivers door. I gave up on the trailer that night and went and got my boss's rollback. A full size will fit on a 16 x6.5 trailer, just don't try it with a flat, lessons learned.

Re: will this haul one of our trucks
you could load it backwards too, then the weight of the motor would be on the trailer wheels and not the tongue, only an issue if you have a 1/2 ton or a Tahoe like me
