Brake Booster Problem
Hi guys, so I checked for vacuum on my 71 truck's Power brakes, when I apply the brake at startup nothing happens. I have lots of suction on the line to the booster. However I have noticed when I plug that line my engine runs way better, even great as I can do a burn out now. So does anyone know who rebuilds the boosters? My guess is mine is done?
Or is it better to try another used one? This is my 2nd attempt |

Re: Brake Booster Problem
Sounds like the seals inside the booster are worn out. This is causing a vacuum leak to the motor. As for who rebuilds them I don't know, but I know that you can buy them from most parts stores. They charge a core chargre so I think the boosters they sell are rebuild and ready to go. I am not sure if they sell brand new ones or not, they would be more expensive. Make sure you get the right one because there is a bunch of different ones. You can test your old one. Look in the FAQ section for testing a brake booster and follow that or you can use a hand vacuum pump to see if it holds vac. Hope this helps. ED67C20

Re: Brake Booster Problem
I bought a rebuilt from Autozone and it is really nice, came with the pin and new check valve. Had to reuse my old mounting brackets. I just had to paint it all semi-gloss black to make it look nicer.
