72 GMC Flame Red pic request

I have seen a few recent threads that mention the 71-72 GMC only color "Flame Red", these in particular...

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=336224

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=337176

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=340973

...but with the exception of Hart_Rod mentioning his suburban as being that color, I can't find any pics of actual trucks in that shade. Interestingly enough, Hart_Rod calls the same Sub "Victory Red" in this thread.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=343004

Sorry Rob, not trying to call you out or anything, just trying to be sure what I'm looking at.

Anyway, please post some pics of trucks that are the GMC Flame Red seen on this chart. THANKS!

Oh yeah, it looks like Flame Red #513 was used on Chevy's prior to 1971 also. Either way, pics please

Re: 72 GMC Flame Red pic request

I would like to see some as well. I am thinking of red, flame red, or hugger orange from 72.

You're right in calling me out, . Mine is "victory red". I must have had a brain fart that day, . Flame red (med red??) has more orange in it. Very similar to "torch red" that was used on Corvettes.

Critter, I don't have a pic for you, but I remember someone recently bought that color, and it was only available I thought he said in Dupont and was around $700 a gallon he said. That's pretty dang expensive. Trevor

Well, unless I can find someone that can paint my blazer using only a pint of that "liquid gold" then Flame Red might be out, still want to see it painted on a truck, though!

Re: 72 GMC Flame Red pic request

I call it Agent Orange, but my '68 GMC is Flame Red and it came originally with a blue and metallic blue interior. Anyone else seen one of these weird stock color combos?

Thanks,

John

$700 a gallon, yikes! Maybe I'm gonna change my truck's name to Agent Blue.

Re: 72 GMC Flame Red pic request

So y'all are telling me that Flame Red #513 from that chart looks orange??? I was hoping/looking for more of a scarlet or deep red color when I first posted all this. It sounds like I am way off with Flame Red

Re: 72 GMC Flame Red pic request

The flame red looks like a Tomato color, not deep red, but not orange. A bit of both. Trevor

I'm sorry I wasn't very clear the name I've given my GMC as a Custom Classic Trucks magazine project is Agent Orange. Right now it has an old repaint that looks more like Omaha Orange. The interior is still Flame Red which looks like a tomato red.

I think victory red is what you are looking for. Go to your local autoparts store and get a bottle of touch paint with the following GM paint code , WA 9260.

Will do. I think you might be right about victory red being more what I'm looking for. I might be wanting something a little darker, but we will see. In my head I've been looking for what I call a "metallic scarlet red" but I haven't really seen anything on the road that fits what I am seeing in my brain. Usually when I tell someone that description they point out a maroon vehicle and say "like that?" I have to tell them "no, more red than maroon." I'm starting to get frustrated with it, but I am months away from paint so I have time I guess. Thanks for the info.

Flame red
Metalic scarlet is somewhat like my 68 Vermillion Burb interior/under hood. I can take a pic under the hood. Love the color and Will be painting the bottom 1/2 of the burb that color and doing the top off/white. I have a pic of a burb done up the exact way I will try to find it.
