Re: buying cross over
That doesn't include the price of the 2WD steering box or flat-tops either...

Re: buying cross over
Do you plan on wheeling your truck? How much lift does your truck have? If you just plan to dd/cruise then you maybe able to get by with the standard steering corrections.

Re: buying cross over
I made my own. Being a machinist has its advantages.
2wd power steering box from the warehouse. (out back of the house) 1 ton drag link ends from NAPA Pc of round bar for the drag link steering arm from Mad FWD, with studs, cones and nuts pitman arm from a 78 Ford F150. flat top knuckle was on the Blazer already. The boss bought me the LH tap for the drag link. I had to buy a tappered ream for the steering arm and the pitman arm. Then i took everything to work and went to town. I had to heat up the pitman arm and bend it a little so it wouldn't hit the frame. So far so good. No failures.

Re: buying cross over
Check out the "how to" on colorado k/5. This guy did his own and did a few things to lower the cost. It is a good read.

Re: buying cross over
Coolio. So a 2WD box is all that is needed for the 44 correct? Works with '73+ as well?

Re: buying cross over
You will have a problem with the center link. D44 flat top knuckle TRE's come down from the top. 10 bolts come up from the bottom. Are you going to use matching knuckle's?
You cant mix and match.

Re: buying cross over
ok..
well iw as roaming the junkyard this week and i had yet ANOTHER cross over question i have my D44 knuckel NOW.. i noticed on some of the camper specials and k20 series trucks that they have the 2wd set up that looks like cross over.. (look at the 2wd parts uptop) http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=139 can i use any of this to build my own? i am determined to make my own without it looking god awful and dangerous

Re: buying cross over
The only thing you need there is the 2WD steering box.

Re: buying cross over
damn..
well it was tempting.. so.. 2wd steering box.. and knuckle coming in... what do i have to tell the machine shop to mill? or should i just wait until the highsteer arms come in and then have them "match" it ..?

If the arm comes with out a tapered hole for the TRE, then give him the TRE too so he can try it.

Re: buying cross over
both will have the aftermarket high steer arms,
so then the tie rod ends should be matched then..... right? how would the stock locations effect aftermarket parts? i can go get another d44 knuckle but i havent been seeing both come in a kit for the crossover kits labeled for "d44 and corp 10" come with all the same equipment...

Re: buying cross over
If you were just doing crossover, it would matter because the center link ends go in from the top on a D44, and up from the bottom on a 10 bolt.
But...since your doing high steer (you said crossover not high steer) you could probley get away get away with the 10 bolt knuckle on the driver side. You should keep your knuckles in pairs. But...do what you have to do.

Re: buying cross over
sweet..
i was freaked out and was hoping it was a misunderstanding, with most "highsteer/crossover? kits it pretty much seems to only be the pitman arms that are changed.. (or whatever the name is for the arm on knuckle itself)
