New to KC area---any good salvage yards?
I just PCS'd to Fort Leavenworth. I was a little disappointed to find they do not have an auto craft shop. So, I will limited to what I can do in my garage for a year.
Anyhow, can any of the folks on here (in the Kansas City area) point me to any salvage yards that may have some of our trucks. I need mirror arms. I plan to drive down to LMC, but originals would be better. Thanks,

C.A.T. is one. He has some salvage at his shop in Northmoor, Mo. & has a yard in the Ozarks. He goes down once a week & brings back any sold parts. He also has connections with some yards in the Ozarks & western Kansas & goes there to get parts. His name is John & the phone number is 816-584-0563.

not many salvage yards in the area that hasn't been picked over. I've been to about 5 or 6 in a 75 mile radius without much luck lately. unfortunately, a lot of the older iron was scrapped when metal was so high.
by the way, WELCOME to the region! love to see you at the Midwest All Truck Nationals, Sept 11-13!!! quite a few of us will be there.

Once in a great while one of our trucks passes through the Pick-n-Pull on Truman Road, but the two I've seen in the last year were battered hulls with almost nothing to salvage. Another vote for Manes. He's out by Oak Grove. Heck of a nice guy and can usually come up with what you need.

Re: New to KC area---any good salvage yards?
I was at the pick and pull on 24 hiway in old Armco building today they had a 72 in there not much on it though, hood, bumper and disc brake setup. I posted pics on the Mo. forum, There's a guy west of Lawrence out by Clinton lake that has a bunch of old chevy's. It looks like a junkyard but I never stopped because I was in my semi, but he has a few of our trucks in there.

Mike, I know the house you are talking about. It's on K10, but he doesn't sell hardly anything that I am aware of. Trevor

well, years ago, he didn't sell anything. I still have seen the chevelles and some of the trucks sit for years though.

Re: New to KC area---any good salvage yards?
Don't know anymore but Manes used to have a corral full of used body parts and bin upon bin of other used parts. Just about the best source because you don't have to scour the yards.
