Re: cam?
well automatic or manual?
if auto you can run a pretty dang big cam, but then you'll have to get a stall converter.. but with a manual (like i ahve you can run a pretty mean thumper without having to spend the extra cash...

Re: cam?
a couple of things to note with cams,
1. bigger isn't always better 2. the bigger the cam, the less driveablity you have in lower rpms 3. the bigger the cam, the more head work you'll need. such as screw-in studs/guide plates/etc. i installed a lunati 60103 in my 350. good lope, plenty quick and it is drivable. is it a 10sec truck, no. be realistic, a 10sec truck is going to take plenty of motor, a cam that has an operating range of 3500-8000 rpms.

Re: cam?
the cam is about $130ish from Summit/Jegs. i didn't opt to get the lunati cam/lifter kit because i felt they wanted to much for lifters. yes, it is a regular hydraulic flat tappet.
post edited.

Re: cam?
Stock vortec heads? Without upgrading springs your looking at max lift of .450".
I would call Comp Cams. They will take all your info, and make recomendations.
