Pilot Bushing Hole, Urgent
I have a '74 Chevy 4 speed pickup and I would like to put a motor from my 75 Chevy 350 automatic in it. I am worried that the automatic's motor may not have a hole for a pilot bushing, this would mean I couldn't use this motor on my manual truck. Thanks for your help.

Re: Pilot Bushing Hole, Urgent
I've never seen a SBC that didn't have the hole. It's when you get into Olds/ Buick/ Cadillac etc. that you run into problems.

Re: Pilot Bushing Hole, Urgent
Timken makes a nice rollerized pilot bushing that is a replacement part for mid 80's vintage diesel Chevy's.
I have been using it for years on all kinds of Chevy cars & trucks instead of the solid bushings when I do clutch jobs or manual trans conversions. Chevy used to sell it for $6 but now wants $23. Autozone caries it in stock for $13. |
