Headliner in my c10 was sagging. I tryed to fix and end up making it worse. I broke plastic trim. Everything is metal on this truck but that trim is plastic. I found repro trim with glue for about $100 so I am ok there. Original headliner is in good shape but warped. Did anyone have good luck reusing old headliner? Plastic trim is a one time deal so I dont want to brake a new trim. Thanks.

One of the biggest and most miserable fights that I had fixing up my truck was exactly what you're asking about. I bought a brand new repop headliner and chrome trim from Classic Parts awhile back and first I thought (wrongly) that the trim would hold it up as the headliner had a thick cardboard backing. Of course it bulged down in the middle. So I went to NAPA and bought a spray can of Permatex contact cement. I put a bunch of foam blocks on the seat which compressed the headliner to the roof and waited one day. I installed the chrome trim and it was done. Hurray! It looks great. A few days later it fell down. Now I'm mad. I said to hell with Permatex, I'll spend the extra money and get the very best. I bought a can of 3M Type77 contact adhesive which is the Rolls Royce of contact adhesives. Did the whole thing again. About 3 weeks later, the whole thing came down AGAIN! Now I'm purple with anger! I felt like throwing the whole thing away but now I got all this nasty gook on my roof and I gotta hide it. Once again, I went to the auto parts store and I bought a tube of the yellow 3M Automotive Weatherstrip Adhesive. Did the whole thing once more. That was over a year ago and my headliner still is tightly glued up to my roof. We have 110 deg. summers here and it hasn't affected my headliner in the least. 3M Automotive Weatherstrip Adhesive. Yup, that's the stuff.

Did all these trucks come with a headliner? Mine does not have one.

Nope, only the later model top of the line premium trucks got it. Mine was a bare bones utility model so it had a plain steel roof.

mid 69 and 70 CST got them, then the 71 and 72 Cheyenne and cheyenne super... those are the only C/K series pickups to get them.

I will also vouch for the liquid nails, 7 years and it hasn't moved at all. Stuck very smooth on the roof. Easier to do when you take out the seat to put a couple 2 x 6" and a piece of plywood to hold it up for a day. Trevor

Mines up with sticky back velcro...zero probs so far.
