Sealing Body Seams
I'm fixin to put seam sealer on my seams on the cab. I had to weld in new floor pans inner and outer rockers, floor supports, cab corners, etc.
At the bottom of the door jams you have about a 1/2" gap between the floor and the lip of your outer rocker. It's the lip that the door seals attach to. There is a seam there or a "crack", I guess you could call it, between the floor and the outer rocker panel. The floor is only attached to the outer rocker by 5 or 6 plug welds from the top side and a few stitch welds at the bottom of the rocker underneath. Does this seam get sealed? It looks like it should be, but I don't remember seeing anything there, but then again, mine was rotted away... I think I'm going to seal it. Can't hurt...can it? |

Re: Sealing Body Seams
I would seal it. On mine I drilled a hole on each end (3/16" or so) so any water that might get in there will leave. I'm a firm believer in sealing any seam or overlap in sheetmetal that has the ability to hold moisture and start down that nasty road to rusting again. There is a lot of stuff that the factory didn't seal. If they lasted forever and never rusted, you wouldn't need to go back and buy another one now would you.LOL!
