My 1970's new engine and exhaust
Here is the sound of my newly rebuilt engine and new exhaust. I got it back from the exhaust shop this afternoon. It is a 350 with shorty headers and 2.5 inch pipe and flowmasters, no x pipe.

Not too shabby, not annoyingly loud on the edge of disturbing the peace.

What headers are you running and how did they fit? Got a part number?

Re: My 1970's new engine and exhaust
Here are the headers:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...%3D5%26ps%3D63 They fit well enough but we had to dent them a bit to get clearance for two of the spark plugs. Other than that they fit fine. I would say that they are pretty nice for the money. the guy at the exhaust shop even commented on how nice they were and how thick the pipes and flanges were. He was amazed at the cost and wanted all the info on where to get them. I was afraid that he was gonna have trouble getting around the starter and/or oil filter but he ran 2.5 inch pipe and had plenty of clearance although the collectors that came with the headers would not fit but he just fabricated everything. |
