77 GMC Royal Sierra

Well after 3 years my truck is almost done...I guess I can start a "build" tread now.

Basically, it was taken down to the bare frame, sandblasted, hit with 2 coats of POR-15 and 2 coats rustoleam. I completely rebuilt the engine, trans, rear-end, steering column, and gauges, stripped down a cab off an 83C10 bare, repaired and painted. Also rebuilt/cleaned/repaired every inch of wiring. Got front fenders at a swap meet, hood from my "junk yard". I did all welding and body work myself(all a first to me), and my father and I painted it in our garage. 1981 Corvette yellow btw.

I still need to spray the bed, and install a bunch of parts, but she runs and drives, and sounds awesome!

Heres some pics, along with links to a few older posts...

Great Job! Especially on that engine compartment. A great inspiration for the build I am starting!

Re: 77 GMC Royal Sierra

Amazing, truck looks freakin' awesome. Great job. Thats why people shouldn't be afraid to do something just because they've never done it before. They might be suprised just how nice it'll turn out. Great job.

Re: 77 GMC Royal Sierra

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. The tires are Dunlop Mud Rovers, basically same as BFG Mud terrains, or Cooper Discoverer STT's.
Heres a couple complete pics... I still have to re-chrome the front bumper, polish the wheels, recover the seat, put carpet in, and replace the 81-87 rear bumper I threw on there...but its finally on the road after 3 years or so!
