Really? Rubber mounts are really cheap, You still may get some vibration doing what's pictured. If you don't want to foot the bill for poly, at least stick with original. Just my .02.

Re: Will this Work, or am I crazy!!!!

Not advocating but I think you need to try it and tell us. Here's some things I notice that could cause problems.

1. Make sure the insulator on topside is the same thickness as the old mount.

2. Make sure to use a locknut. Not a spin locknut but one that is dimpled.

3. You might have to enlarge the hole in the tower and put the bolt through a rubber hose too.

4. Get a safety cable to contain the torque if/when it may or may not let go.

Not a complete list of "what might go wrong" by any means.

Now for a recommendation - go to autozone and spend about $8 for the one designed for that. Then you'll have a backup in case you try it and fail miserably.

if/ when it fails, it'll happen when you stab the throttle from a stand still. The engine will lean over, and lock the throttle in that position, possibly even causing more throttle.
Just buy some motor mounts.

A for effort, and not so good on the result, go get some new mounts and let the cob webs out of your wallet!

Re: Will this Work, or am I crazy!!!!

Yeah get the cheap mounts if you have to because it's a little risky. I even snapped an iron exhaust maninfold in half once!

You've got steel headers so you're even more likely to damage them.

Just buy some motor mounts.

I'm gonna second that.

Re: Will this Work, or am I crazy!!!!

My Idea wasn't to be cheap, I wanted an interlocking mount that was tougher than the rubber ones. If I thought the cheap rubber mounts would last, I would put them on there. The ones I have on there now, I put on less than a year ago!!!!! I guess I'll break down and buy the polyurethane.........

Yeah after I broke the iron exhaust manifold, I added a chain that I bolted from the frame to the first exhaust manifold bolt as a back up

Re: Will this Work, or am I crazy!!!!

I saw a cable from the drivers side manifold to the frame on a 70 once, it looked factory. Maybe a recall/waranty fix.
