New Water Pump
My brand new high flow water pump from Jegs started leaking today so I need to get a new pump tomorrow. Where is the best place to get one? NAPA or Oreilly's? The seem to be about the same price ($24) but I'm not sure of the quality.

Re: New Water Pump
Good question. No Oreilly's near me, but I have used Napa water pumps and it was kind of a crapshoot. Years ago it took three to get a good one -- and last year I got a good one on the first try, so................

Re: New Water Pump
I just replaced mine. Got it at Kragen/Oreillys. Seems to work O.K. and no more leak. $24 seems cheap, mine was $42.

Re: New Water Pump
I just got one from O'Reilly's for my l6 250 and it works great with no leaks. I paid a little over $20 for it.
Napa use to have better quality stuff, but the quality seems to have gone down hill some. The one I got at O'Reilly's was a new lifetime warranty one. Danny

Re: New Water Pump
I've had pretty good luck at my local NAPA store.

Re: New Water Pump
Get the lifetime one. They use better parts to rebuild them.I bought a cheapie(2 years ago when $$ was really tight) and it lasted about a year and a half.I replaced it with a lifetime one.

Re: New Water Pump
I got a new pump at O'Reilly's this morning for $42. They had rebuild ones for $14 and $24 also. Just painted it and am waiting for it to dry so I can put it back in. What do you guys use on the heater hose fitting? Do you use RTV or teflon tape? Also, how tight should I make it? My ond/new pump leaked as I got it to tight and cracked the pump.

Re: New Water Pump
I used teflon tape. Tight enough but not too tight. LOL.
